![]() Vatnajökull National ParkThis is the lagoon at the end of Vatnajökull glacier where it is nearly reaching the ocean. It is the largest ice cap in Europe with an area of 7,900 km2, which covers around 8% of the country. To compare, Campos de Hielo Sur - one of the ice caps that Chile and Argentina share - has a total area of around 12.400 km2. | ![]() | ![]() The lagoon has very easy access from the road, so many movies that require ice scenes have been filmed here (James Bond, Batman and the most famous lately, Game of Thrones). |
