After waiting for 9 hours in Mughal Sarai, we finally managed to get another train to take us to New Jaipalguri. This train ride took 18 hours.

Tenzing Norgay was a Nepali Sherpa Mountaineer. He was the first person to reach the summit of Everest in 1953 and he did it together with Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand. This Mountaineering Institute was opened in 1954 to encourage mountaineering as an organized sport in India. It was founded by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Tenzing was his first director.

It's very clear that Kolkata (known as Calcutta in English) used to be the capital of the British ruled territories. The city had much nicer buildings than Delhi and was better organized. New Delhi used to be the political and financial center, so in 1911 it was decided that it would be easier to control the country from there and the capital was moved from Kolkata to New Delhi.
