Our first hike

In Grand Canyon you hike down the canyon first, so you need to make sure you don't walk too far, otherwise the way up will be very hard under a strong sun with only a few places to get water. We hiked 18 km and descended/ascended 1.000 vertical meters on this particular day hike to Plateau Point

Hermit Camp Trailhead

Hermit Camp Trailhead

The hike is a favorite to many because of the feeling of being in the middle of it all–the rim, the river, the side canyons, the buttes and mesas, the temples. There are fantastic views in all directions.

Despite deciding not to hike this day, we ended up walking 15 km on the flat Rim Trail.
