Going to Robben Island

Going to Robben Island

Robben Island is located around 7 km away from Cape Town's coast. Since the beginning of the 17th century Robben Island was used as an isolation point for political prisoners. The most famous one was Nelson Mandela who stayed here in a small cell for 18 of the 27 years he was in prison.

Sailing through this bay is very beautiful and we saw plenty of dolphins and even whales. You can normally see whales from many points in the coast of South Africa.
